For over 25 years, Dr. Joseph Cocciardi has provided expert testimony and consulting services on hundreds of cases, including high profile events such as the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City. He has opined on multiple construction site accidents, accident and fall incidents, and those with exposures to both physical and toxic agents.
Dr. Cocciardi is a Board Certified Safety Professional, a Board Certified Industrial Hygienist and a Registered Environmental Health Specialist-Registered Sanitarian with more than 35 years of experience in the fields of public safety and public, occupational and environmental health. An emergency responder, Dr. Cocciardi developed and managed the Emergency Response Program for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s largest state agency. He also developed Health and Safety Plans for most national and international events of consequence since 2001, including Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, the Haiti earthquakes, Superstorm Sandy and the United States’ International Ebola response. An expert in risk assessment, Dr. Cocciardi regularly develops plans for significant events, including Presidential Inaugurations, the Annual State of the Union Address and the United Nations General Assemblies. He holds various state and federal licenses to work with toxic materials, and has been qualified and testified as both an expert witness and a litigation consultant. Dr. Cocciardi is an internationally published author, having written multiple editions of six safety, health and emergency response textbooks, as well as numerous training manuals and articles.
