This course meets the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) requirements to conduct lead dust clearance testing under the EPA Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) Rule, and clearance examinations under the HUD Lead Safe Housing Rule. The course includes 2021 revisions to clearance sampling protocol. Certification is limited to Pennsylvania and any other state without an EPA qualified state program.

 

The U.S. EPA/HUD training manual is provided to each student. There are no prerequisites for this class.

 

An EPA certified dust technician can issue a Lead Safe Certificate for a rental property within the City of Philadelphia, subsequent to onsite activities and testing.

 

This class satisfies the requirements for New Jersey municipal staff to be certified to conduct visual inspections and dust wipe sampling under New Jersey’s N.J.A.C. 5:28A.
